A bar is an independent business or a section of a restaurant, club or hotel (somtimes called long bars) where alcoholic beverages are sold to be drunk on the premises. In some parts of the United States, the term "bar" suggests an emphasis on hard liquor. In some parts of the country, this is actually a legal distinction: in Washington and Oregon, a tavern is restricted to beer, wine, and hard cider, but a "bar" has a full liquor license. In Las Vegas it is common for the bar to contain up to 15 slot machines.
